On the surface, this is a music video.

But at it's heart?
This is a year's worth of footage.

A giant montage of mundane, every day moments, when pieced together, suddenly take on a new form. Watching life go by in a nostalgic, poetic way as a souveniere of my 21st year alive, the concept for this video felt right for the tone of the song (written in 2007).
This is also a souvenir of my 21st year alive. I can look back at it and see how my life was when I was 21 years old.

Music + Picture by Polaris Castillo (myself).
2010.

@05:00I encourage you to do it. Really, it's a neat souvenir!

I really wish deviantArt would let me upload the upmost quality version of this video, though. You can view it here if you wish:

@05:00My Birthday :) I'd like to chronicle my entire eighteenth year on earth rather than starting randomly :D

That kept happening with youtube when I put this up > [link]
Now it's all grainy and icky.. :( Is Year In The Life on youtube? I hear there are copyright issues/ theft on youtube :/

@05:00That's good. I think a random year further pushes the act of spontaneity and random behavior; mundane events as you evaluate your life on an ordinary day. Like driving while your mind is remembering everything in a few seconds (as in the video).

YES it is on youtube: [link]

Copyright issues? Well as long as you only use original content you should have no issues.

As for theft? Come on, you're on the internet. It's sort of a risky gesture to put yourself online, so you're taking that risk to put yourself out there. Anyone can steal anything anywhere, especially online. You just never know. So you have to think, who cares, or be endlessly worried..

@05:00Yeah that's true ^_^ But it'll be interesting because I'm leaving for Uni in September.. I'd like to chronicle the start of a new life, if you know what I mean :D
Thanks for the link! *favefavefave*

I guess it's pretty risky haha, but it's the only way to show it to the world :D
Yup, I tend to not think much of my own work anyway, but with a masterpiece like yours I guess there's a little more danger ;P

@05:00I'm curious to see what you bring to the table. What you cook up could be your best meal yet ;)

Thanks for the favourite!
Well, if you make it CLEAR that it's your own work and it is pretty well-known...no one will steal it. Thieves will only act if they know for a fact they can get away with it.

The cinematography on this is very beautiful. Overall I found the film a bit long since I did get repetitive. But It was very compelling! Makes me want to finish my films!!
